Case Studies
Crystal Palace & Watford F.C
July 2016 – As the pre-season started, London Surfacing won the contract to renew the rubber surfacing pitchside at Selhurst Park. Having ripped out nearly 700m2 of the old surface, LSC dug out channels and installed new aco drainage along the sides of the pitch. Concrete edgings were installed & the areas were made good with tarmac. 9,000kg of “Palace bright Red” safetyfall were laid along the touchlines.
Following on from installing “Palace Red” safetyfall at Crystal Palace FC, London Surfacing received a request from Watford to replace their rubber surface pitchside at Vicarage Road. A gap in their home fixture list presented itself towards the middle of October and LSC moved in to remove the existing wet-pour surface & begin laying approximately 14,000 kilos of Black EPDM. All four touchlines were resurfaced, which covered 1,100m2.
Eveline Day School.
During the Summer of 2015 London Surfacing undertook a project to transform a playground in South London. The play area was divided into half with the installation of a timber fence. The existing grass area was dug up, a terram membrane laid & then a 40mm thick layer of rubber bonded mulch in an earth-brown colour, was laid and compacted
On the other side of the fence the existing rubber surface was cleaned and drilled with holes & filled with shingle to enhance drainage. The new safetyfall surface was laid using a number of different colours & different patterns, including a roadway & parking spaces & a multi-coloured sea splash.
St. Lukes Open Space.
The open space is a council-owned residential playground in Richmond, South West London. We were tasked with brightening up a tired looking children’s play zone.
We began by replacing flower beds & tree circles with new granite setts & laying a resin bound surface around the trees. The old existing rubber surfaced was washed, dried & a primer applied. We then laid approx 15mm thick of Royal Blue Safetyfall.
Intersected within the main Royal Blue surface is a number of patterns, ranging from yellow & green circles, green splashes, a numbered red hopscotch & a green lettered crocodile.
The makeover provided a vibrant, colourful, exciting environment for the children to play.
Ascot Heath School
During the Summer half-term 2017 London Surfacing completed a colourful project at a school in Ascot, Berkshire.
The school had an existing activity area that was beginning to look tired & worn and in places, a little dangerous.
We began by removing some tree stumps & making repairs to the artificial grass. Then we started to make the area safer by
removing some of the tarmac surfaces and laying a rubber-safetymulch material, using Earth Brown & Mahogany Red.
Extra colour was added by the new section of light blue safetyfall rubber crumb.
The pin kerb edgings were replaced & highlighted the separate coloured areas & textures.
The perimeter footways were relaid in traditional Black tarmac.
The children now had a play area that was safer but also very colourful.
Quality First
